Release Date: 22 January 2004

The British Professional Photography Awards are born!

The new joint awards announced recently by the BIPP and MPA have been formerly named the 'British Professional Photography Awards'.

Open to members of both associations, the joint awards will replace each of the MPAs and BIPPs annual photo competitions.

A new logo has been designed which reflects the 'best of British' branding that will be featured at the Awards ceremony - set for the 16th, 17th and 18th October 2004 at the prestigious Hilton National hotel in Coventry.

There are now 16 major categories for UK photographers, spanning wedding, portrait and commercial sectors, with a further six consumer and specialist categories, plus nine categories for overseas members.

The overall winner of the new Awards will become the 'British Professional Photographer of the Year 2004' and the overseas winner the 'Overseas Professional Photographer of the Year 2004'.

The British Professional Photography Awards will be formerly launched at Focus on Imaging in Birmingham at the end of February, where entry forms will be made available.

The deadline for print entries - which can be submitted to either the BIPP in Ware, or the MPA in Darlington - is 30 July 2004.

Those requiring information on membership of either association, or the new Awards should call MPA on 0845 130 970 and BIPP on 01920 464011.
