Primary Colour now owned by Genesis

Genesis has now officially taken over Primary Colour, the London pro lab, which had gone into administration.

Based in Kingsland Road, Shorteditch, East London and also with a branch in Camden, Primary Colour has been in existence for 25 years and was previously owned by pro photographer Ray Massey. Genesis intends to keep both of the Primary branches running, in addition to GenesisÕs existing business just off Kings Road in Chelsea.

The new company is Genesis Imaging Limited trading as Primary Colour. Genesis has purchased all assets, intellectual property and the trading name, but not the company itself or its debts.

Director Ken Sethi tells BJP: "We are delighted to announce the take-over of Primary. There will be an immediate improvement of service for Primary customers, especially in the turnaround time for film processing. The existing five bike couriers will be increased to seven and therefore the waiting time will be shortened. We'll also be introducing new services such as drum scanning, large format printing and retouching."

Existing account clients of both labs will also benefit from the acquisition as each will be able to use the others services. "Primary is now in safe hands," says Ken, "We've met with the staff, who are obviously delighted that their jobs are secure and they are very excited at the new challenge ahead. We are now looking forward to the support both of the staff and the existing clients. Our long term goal is to to provide a better service all round.

"Genesis is a well established lab that was already looking to expand and the acquisition of Primary has come just at the right time for all concerned."
