Fujifilm explains relationship with Ilford

Following Fujifilm's recent launch of its new black and white film, Neopan 400CN, the company has acted quickly to clear up any possible confusion over its relationship with Ilford.

Graham Rutherford, Director of Fujifilm Professional, explained the background behind the launch of the new film: "There has long been the demand for a Fujifilm black & white chromogenic film and when we decided to produce the film we held a number of technical meetings with Ilford. Following these meetings it was decided that Ilford were the obvious choice to work with in the development and production of the film.

"The film is modelled on the successful Ilford XP2 and particular attention has been paid to the needs of the professional photographer, especially those using automatic print production systems such as Fujifilm Frontier.

"We are looking forward to continuing our long standing relationship with Ilford and plan to work closely with them on the future development and marketing of chromogenic products.

"We are very keen to build on the brand loyalty Fujifilm's products have built up in UK and Europe to satisfy the needs of the discerning professional photographer. We see Neopan 400CN as central to this."

Fujicolor Neopan 400CN is a fast, fine grain black and white film designed for general use, and is particularly suited to the wedding and portrait market. As it is a chromogenic film, the dyes that arise during development are formed in exactly the same way as those in colour negative film. This means that both colour and black and white film can be processed through the same chemistry at the same time.

The film is available now in 35mm and 120 formats.
