2002 Fujifilm Professional and the Association of Photographers (AOP) have once again joined forces to organise the annual Assistants' Awards. Details of the 2002 Awards have just been announced, and this year sees the competition opened-up for non Assistant Members of AOP for the first time. Assistants can enter single images or a series of four in the following categories, Fashion, Life, Landscape and Still Life. A £500 bursary will be presented to each of the four series winners. In addition, there is £300 in Fujifilm Professional vouchers available to the winners of the single entries and a further £300 voucher prize to eight merit award winners The Assistants' Awards offers young photographers the chance to show their work to the commissioning community, with the catalogue being mailed out to a wide range of advertising and design agencies, photographers' agents and editorial commissioners. This exposure can give a photographer's career a boost and give their work much needed recognition. The costs for entries are £8 (single) and £16 (series) for AOP Assistant Members and £12 and £25 for non-members, and all working assisting photographers are eligible to enter. The closing date for entries is 19 July 2002. Further details and a copy of the entry form can be obtained from Jonathan Narbett at the AOP on 020 7739 6669 or by emailing jonathan@aophoto.co.uk.
