2005 Fujifilm Student Awards launched

The hunt for the next Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year has begun with the launch of the 2005 Awards.
This year sees major changes to the format of the Awards. From now on all initial entries will be submitted via the Student Award's website, www.fujifilmstudentwards.co.uk , this makes the entry process easier and quicker for students as they do not have to go to the expense of producing prints. Merit winners will be asked to submit prints for the final stage of judging.

The decision to take the Student Awards online was prompted by the continuing success of Fujifilm's Distinctions Awards. Last year Distinctions, which also takes entries via the internet, attracted over 5,000 entries.
Receiving submissions online means that less time will be spent on administration; this saving will lead to more resources being available to the prize fund. The 2005 awards will feature three main categories: Social/Editorial, Advertising/Commercial and Fine Art/Pictorial. Up to 20 Merit prizes will be awarded in each category and each Merit winner will receive £50 in Fujifilm Professional product vouchers.

The winner of each category will receive a cash prize of £1,000 and the overall winner will receive an additional £1,000 and the title of Fujifilm Student Photographer of the Year. Each winner's college will receive £500 in Fujifilm Professional product vouchers. Additionally, the college that submits the most Merit winning entries will also receive £500 in Fujifilm Professional product vouchers.
