Fujifilm Envisage Awards 2007 - winner announced
The winner of the Fujifilm Envisage Photography Awards 2007 is Cheshire-based
photographer Ian Cartwright.
Ian's landslide victory gains him the coveted title 'Fujifilm Envisage Photographer
of the Year 2007'. His stunning underwater portrait of an amateur model blew
the judges away: "Ian's careful planning and technical abilities have made
for a beautiful and ethereal image," said chairman of the judging panel
Llewellyn Robins.
The judges, John Parris, Dave Wall and Jo De Banzie, had no hesitation selecting
Ian's image for the top accolade: "All submitted images were of a high
standard and our shortlist included a very unusual and stylish set of photographs.
We each thought that Ian's image was so elegant and tranquil... it just stood
out as the natural winner," commented Dave Wall.
Ian's £1000 prize was presented to him on the Fujifilm stand at Focus
On Imaging, NEC Birmingham. He commented: "I am so pleased, at last someone
sees merit in my underwater work! I'm thrilled to have done so well in the competition
this year."
Ian's good fortune doesn't stop there: he also picked up 4 Awards of Excellence.
Other Award of Excellence winners are Envisage members: Maria Murray, David
Goff and Mark Lewis.
