Fujifilm picks up two TIPA "Oscars" Fujifilm has been awarded two separate accolades in this year's prestigious Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards. Fujifilm Professional collected the Best Slide Film 2003-2004 Award for its brand new Fujichrome Velvia 100F and the company's Zoom Date F2.8 camera was voted Best 35mm Compact Camera 2003-2004. Velvia 100F boasts the world's highest level of colour saturation and colour fidelity in the ISO 100 speed class. The film employs the industry's first Multi-Colour Correction Layer technology in a colour reversal film. It also features new coupler and emulsion technologies. The film will be released in the UK this August. The judges said of the film: "Fujifilm Velvia 100F transparency film brings all the desirable characteristics long associated with 50 ISO Velvia to a medium speed film. With its faster 100 ISO speed rating, Velvia 100F provides the flexibility of shooting under more varied conditions without sacrificing any of the rich colour saturation and super-fine grain structure that have already established Velvia as a premium quality product." The Zoom Date F2.8 is an unusual 35mm compact film camera that provides maximum flexibility with its ultra-wide angle, bright 24mm F2.8 lens, and captures photos exactly as they should be - pin-sharp, wide in range, with extremely clear background detail. The camera boasts a range of features, including: a zoom range of 24mm to 50mm; a unique twin shutter release which makes it easier for the user to capture photographs in awkward shooting conditions and an innovative 'Self Snap' mode which, thanks to the ultra-wide lens, allows the photographer to take a photograph of himself/herself. The judges commented: "Once again Fujifilm has proved that there is still room for innovative compact cameras combining features which will appeal to snapshooters and experienced photographers alike." TIPA is made up of the editors of 31 photographic publications, spanning 12 European countries. The organisation sets out strict criteria for its awards - for a product to be successful it must not only be the very best in its category, but it also has to be user friendly and offer smart solutions.
