Next generation of Fujifilm professional films on show at Focus

Fujifilm Professional will use Focus-on-Imaging to showcase its two new medium-speed colour negative films - Fujicolor Pro 160S and Pro 160C. This is the first chance for UK photographers to see sample images taken on the new films.

Both films feature smoother skin tone rendition, unprecedented neutral grey balance, exceptionally fine grain, and wide exposure latitude. They represent the leading edge of Fujifilm's colour negative film technology. Both have been optimised for digital scanning, and give excellent performance when used for digitally printed portraiture.

A combination of excellent tonal linearity in a wide exposure range (-1 to +3 EV) and exceptionally fine grain, dramatically improve the scanning characteristics of Pro 160S and Pro 160C on Fujifilm's Digital Frontier Minilab and other digital printing equipment. Superior scanning consistency promises to make post-scanning colour correction and retouching easier than ever before. In short, these films bring the huge information-carrying capacity of colour negative film into an easier and more efficient digital workflow.

Combining smooth, gentle tonality with superbly natural colour reproduction, Fujicolor Pro 160S is ideal for wedding, portrait, and fashion photography. Fujicolor Pro 160C meanwhile offers higher contrast and more vivid colour, making it suitable for a wide range of assignments from portraiture and commercial work to architecture.

New colour coupler technology delivers exceptionally well nuanced skin tones and assures that all hues are rendered consistently from highlight to shadow, regardless of density. Pro 160S offers a gentler tonal curve, while Pro 160C features higher contrast and more saturated colour.

The two new films boast even finer grain than their predecessors, with an RMS granularity of 3 (compared to 4 for the current NPS 160 and NPC 160). The result is notably smoother, richer-looking prints, especially at larger sizes.

Availability of both new films is scheduled for Spring 2005. Fujicolor Pro 160S and Pro 160C will replace the current Fujicolor Portrait Film NPS 160 and NPC 160.
