Latest Fujifilm marketing initiative announced

Fujifilm Professional used the recent Focus-on-Imaging show as a platform to announce a marketing initiative that will benefit all GP photographers.

The company has designed a campaign to help photographers break into the commercial market. The new initiative, 'Fujifilm for Business' provides photographers with an attractive brochure for them to distribute to companies in their local area. The brochure illustrates the many ways that professional photography can benefit a business through brochure/poster production, advertising, exhibitions, sales aids, websites, archiving, personnel and PR photography. The campaign will draw attention to the fact that good photography need not be the preserve of large companies.

The brochures are available to all UK based professional photographers. Members of the Envisage marketing initiative will be able to purchase the brochures at a reduced rate.

The brochure is to be backed up by a website, http://www.fujifilmforbusiness.co.uk which will contain a directory of photographers and examples of how a well taken photograph can help a company project a strong corporate image. To be included in this directory, photographers must be part of the Envisage programme. The site will also explain how a professional photographer can help set their business apart from the competition.

Graham Rutherford, director of Professional Imaging, explained the thinking behind Fujifilm for Business: "The commercial market used to be very profitable for photographers; but several factors have seen this sector diminish over recent years. The onset of cheap digital cameras means that many businesses no longer see the benefits of using a professional photographer and prefer to use someone in-house. Fujifilm for Business aims to show these companies that a professional photographer can bring far more to their business than just a well taken image."

The Envisage team is planning a series of workshops around the country designed to help GP photographers develop their commercial photography skills. These workshops will also focus on how photographers can market themselves to businesses. Details of these workshops will be available soon.
