MPA/Fujifilm Classic Kids photo competition winners announced The winners of the Fujifilm sponsored, Master Photographers Association Classic Kids photography competition were announced at Focus On Imaging 2003. The winners were David Doyle of Oakley Studios in Luton and Mark Ashworth of Dumbleton Photographers in Cambridge. Each photographer was presented with a Fujifilm GA645Zi medium format camera worth over £1,300. Mark said of his win: "I thought I'd done really well in the regional judging when I picked up six awards - but to go on and win the overall prize was unbelievable. The competition has been great for business and obviously the winning parents were over the moon when I told them their child's photograph had won the title." The competition was designed to promote children's portraiture to the general public by encouraging parents to take their children to a Master Photographer for a free portrait sitting. The resulting image was then submitted to the Classic Kids judging panel. These images went forward into the quarterly judging where cash prizes of £100 each were awarded to the parents of each regional boy and girl winner. Finally, the parent of each overall winner received £5,000 and the coveted title of 'Classic Kid' for their child. Polly Jarvis of Fujifilm Professional was delighted that Fujifilm were able to sponsor the awards: "Fujifilm have a long association with the MPA and our involvement with the Classic Kids competition is part of our on-going support of the Association."
