Further information on each film is available from the Fujfilm Shorts website, www.fujifilmshorts.com - these films now go forward to the final judging from where the overall winners will be selected. The judges will pick a winner in two categories - 'Best Film' and 'Best Cinematography'.
The judging panel is: Tim Pope - Director, Danny Cohen BSC - Director of Photography, Trevor Forrest - Director of Photography, Robin Vidgeon BSC - Director of Photography, Nigel Walters BSC - Director of Photography, Matt Adams - Technicolor, Flemming Jetmar - Born Shorts, Jesse Vile - Future Shorts, Joe Bateman - Rushes Soho Shorts and Jerry Deeney - Fujifilm Motion Picture.
Jerry Deeney commented on the finalists: "These 12 nominations perfectly illustrate the creative depth of today's film makers. They include four films by students at the NFTS, two foreign language films, animation and a documentary. The overall standard was very high and the judges will have a difficult task selecting the final winners from this selection."
The winner of each category can look forward to receiving some great prizes starting with £2,000 worth of Fujifilm Motion Picture stock.
They will also receive a 'Rushes Package' from Technicolor including film processing, a one light transfer, sync sound and Digi-Beta deliverable. Technicolor Creative Services will also present both winners with a 35mm print of their films for this year's awards screening.
Other prizes include: a five-day lighting hire package courtesy of Panalux; Panavision is supplying a 35mm or 16mm Camera and Dolly hire package; a 'Three-Day Weekend' studio hire package from Island Studios; plus free subscriptions and editorial support from British Cinematographer Magazine, Moviescope Magazine and Film & Festivals Magazine.
The cinematographer from the winner of both sections will also win a free ticket to the Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, in Poland, December 2010. The prize includes flights, accommodation and industry festival passes. The British Society of Cinematographers will welcome the two winning cinematographers to all BSC social and technical events for a period of one year.
The two winning films will be automatically entered into competition at the Born Shorts International Short Film Festival in Bornholm, Denmark and will be screened as part of the festival programme at the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival. The two winning films will also be considered for a worldwide distribution deal with Future Shorts.
The winners will be announced at the Fujifilm Shorts awards ceremony to be held in London at the end of March.
