FDIS conference hits 20
Over 100 delegates attended the 20th National Fujifilm Digital Imaging Service (FDIS) Conference, held in Birmingham recently. Delegates were treated to a bumper day of seminars and workshops, followed in the evening by a Gala Dinner
The National Conference is always a popular event for FDIS members and is a great networking and learning opportunity for UK photo retailers. The event featured four carefully selected instructional workshops designed to help increase their shop's performance.
Richard Evans and Wayne Laws of ESA Research Ltd presented an overview of the results from the first of the years two FDIS Mystery Shopper rounds. During February ESA sent a team of mystery shoppers to visit each of FDIS store and report back on a range of criteria including exterior signage, use promotional messages, shop layout and general shopping experience.
Dennis Reid of Retail Performance Specialists gave a brief overview of RPS’s structured approach to setting and achieving marketing and sales targets to increase profitability. FDIS member Wendy Gray of Frosts Photo Centre, Knowle was on hand to present a real life case study of these techniques. Wendy works for this long-established family run business and sought RPS's assistance to help boost their customer performance.
Danny Williams and Margaret Wyett from Swains International plc gave a live demonstration of the new FDIS branded i-Browser, which enables members to order goods direct from their PC via the web. As well as marketing support Swains provide a valuable service for FDIS members in providing a complete one stop shop solution for Fujifilm paper, media, chemistry and inks as well as their own extensive range of photo retailer ancillaries.
The new Wunderbars canvas stretching system is going down a storm since its launch just a few month's ago. Tim Jones of Wunderbars demonstrated to delegates just how easy they are to construct. This really is a superb product which outshines other canvas stretchers and gives retailers the confidence that their customers will be happy with their canvas wrap images.
Peter Wigington, Marketing Manager for Fujifilm Photo Imaging Group commented on the Conference: "It's really good to see such a great turnout. The FDIS Group continues to go from strength to strength and we have over 160 members now, many of whom where here on the day. Everyone I spoke to was very positive, even in such tough economic times. The Conference is about providing business solutions but it’s also about generating new ideas and giving our members the chance to network together. The FDIS marketing team continues to work to provide a range of marketing tools our members can really benefit from using, We’ve focused on simple but effective campaigns that really promote the benefit of a photo retailer that is part of the local community."
