FUJIFILM rolls-out Facebook update to SmartPix kiosks

FUJIFILM has announced an update to its SmartPix kiosks that will enable customers to easily access their Facebook accounts directly from a kiosk.

This new feature is currently being introduced across the chain of ASDA supermarkets. ASDA have been FUJIFILM’s implementation partner for the introduction of this technology, prior to offering this update to all current SmartPix licence holders later this year. This initiative is a joint venture between FUJIFILM and PNI Digital Media, a leading innovator in online and in-store digital media solutions for major retailers.

Consumers can download their photos directly from albums stored on their Facebook profile, combine them with their photos from their media card (if desired) and instantly create photo prints and gifts to suit many occasions. In addition to Facebook, there are plans to add access to connect with other mainstream social networking sites.

This new innovation from FUJIFILM enhances the SmartPix kiosk’s comprehensive customer offering and supports a full range of value added photo gift products including photobooks, collages, t-shirts and much more.

Chris Pearce, Senior Technical Manager from FUJIFILM, commented at the launch: "Engaging and involving consumers in retail imaging is key to driving our industry's evolution. Kiosk integration with social networking sites such as Facebook helps to encourage all generations into stores to print and share online albums as prints and lifestyle gifting products."

Jeremy Stacey, Manager of Camera and Photo at ASDA Stores was equally enthusiastic saying: “As billions of photos are uploaded to social media sites by consumers every month, FUJIFILM UK, PNI and ASDA are making it easier than ever for consumers to easily create and order photo prints and photo gifts at retail using their shared photos. We’re excited to combine the ease and fun of social media sharing with the convenience of a quality in-store ordering experience across all our ASDA stores.”
